for all intents and purposes
it's quite the hopeless scence,
from the surface it's a sad case
a chapter that makes you weep,

why be so content with that book
closing as if it is the end,
so willing to give up and not believe
what lies around the bend,

you just know if it goes that way
the way you've seen it in your head,
your heart and soul can endure no more
and you'll still be left for dead,

kicking around in your emptiness
licking your wounds and scars,
content to agonize because you think you have to,
leaving your spirit behind bars,

it's all what you're use to,
it's easier that way,
sunshine exists for others,
why should you be accountable for your dismay,

the truth makes you frown
makes you squirm in your seat,
what could someone know
of what affects you way down deep,

the shoes you have trod in
have holes in the soles,
and the mountains you've climbed
have left you with a bloody nose,

what is your life amongst a world
of countless other faces,
blending into the background
staying in the dark spaces,

why don't you see your value
all the wonderful things you possess,
can't you see you make a difference
and how much you've been blessed,

I would loan you my eyes
so you could see how I do,
because one of the greatest things I've been given
comes right from inside you
