In lies the fear, but it is familiar,
it is safe, even though it hurts,
it allows you to give up, to never really try,
it allows you to believe your excuses,
on why not to make a fresh start,

Well you tried it before and it wasn't successful,
so you said you knew the outcome,
it was just like you thought,
so you lied to yourself and said you gave it a fair chance,
now you can say to others well that's just the way it goes,

So you gave up again and you never followed through,
too blind to see all of what you could gain,
beat your head against the wall and continue in circles,
it isn't over until you get it or just fall apart,

Nothing that is worth it comes without some misery,
bu you have been hurt so much you say you are all you have,
if only you would believe that consience that whispers inside you,
let that flame burn and maybe a fire will ignite
