Anyone have some creative ideas for a short story....it has to be a mystery/suspenseful?

Example of what Im looking for....A lady goes home and thinks theres someone creeping around. I cant use that one because we read a story like that in class.

Im not sure if posts like this are allowed here.

Rather than being birthed like a normal child, Chuck Norris instead
decided to punch his way out of his mother's womb. Shortly thereafter
he grew a beard.

Here are a few ideas. Is it supposed to be more fiction-like or can it be really weird and way out there? What about something with an animal or person that keeps showing up and disappearing randomly to the main character. I like ghost stories myself. There are a few ghost story tales that are "supposed to be true" around here. I think they aren't but whatever, it might give you ideas for a story. One is a dog that guards a cemetary - they call it the blue dog because it is blue. I think it may be a cemetary for soldiers, I am not sure. Could have been the master of the dog is buried there or something. The other is there was an accident on a small bridge where a mom and baby got killed. When people pass over it they hear a baby crying. Like I said, I don't believe either one but makes for an interesting story. I will let you know if I think of anything else. This is the first thing that popped into my head and I just woke up. Good luck!

that would be cool and the best use of my time while at work.

Hee! Hee! I am sure your employer would disagree... :)

Closed and opened doors always lead to something as do closed and opened letters, windows - a desk chair left in the position as if someone just got up, but the room has been locked for years. The smell of chlorine or oranges. Cats and dogs not entering a room that used to be a favorite. An unplugged television with an opened DVD case next to it. As whoever said (I forget) it's in the details. The red wheelbarrow poet, was that Frost?

Thanks, I wrote it while I was working at a money marketing company, it didn't really start with any concievable plot, I just injected it afterwords. I always liked it though.
