don't touch me
I'll snap

I'm stretched so tight
I'll break soon

don't look at me
I'll lose my defences

I've planned this so well
I'll break down if you care

don't touch me
I'll dry my tears again

I'm gonna build the wall high up
I'll be safe again

life is too hard
I'll never come out again

please give me a hug
(and) I'll be safe again
"Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! We shall go and commandeer some small craft, then drift at leisure until we happen upon another ideal place for our waterside supper with riparian entertainments."

  • It sounds like mixed emotions, this poem. Like, in your head you tell yourself to just be stiff and rigid and build that wall around you so you don't get hurt again. But, in your heart, you don't want to isolate yourself, you really just want to be loved, hugged, safe in the arms of ______. :) Tear down that wall and brace yourself for whatever lays outside it's false security! :)

The following is a song I really like. Your poem made me think of it........

    Walls (by Pacifier [the band])

    on your own today
    lost with no direction
    they took your dreams away
    and stripped you of protection
but there's a light that won't burn out
when your heart is screaming out
    is screaming

it doesn't matter where you are
there is life behind the walls around you
it doesn't matter where you start
won't be long, won't be long until
the walls around you are gone

    on my own again
with open invitations and the world i'm in
    is such a new sensation
but there's a light that won't burn out
if your heart begins to doubt

it doesn't matter where you are
there is life behind that walls around you
it doesn't matter where you start
it won't be long, won't be long until
the walls around you are gone

    maybe a path to glory
it maybe a road to dust
it maybe there's one great story in all of us
    in all of us, yeah

    on your own today
    lost with no direction
    they took your dreams away
    and stripped you of protection
but there's a light that won't burn out
when your heart is screaming out
    is screaming

it doesn't matter where you are
there is life behind the walls around you
it doesn't matter where you start
it won't be long, won't be long until
the walls around you are gone

(cos when the walls are closing in)
    (another day begins)
(as the last flame flickers out)
cos there's something good in us
(cos when the walls are closing in)
    (another day begins)
(as the last flame flickers out)
cos there's something good in us
(cos when the walls are closing in)
    (another day begins)
there must be something beautiful in us
cos there's something good in us
(cos when the walls are closing in)
    (another day begins)
there must be something beautiful in us

I like that song too. :)
    especially this line:
there must be something beautiful in us

but it's really good all the way. :)
and I bet the band is amazing! :D

I like this one as well eMMI. Good read. I have felt that way before.
Our love must not be just words, but True Love, which shows itself in action,
No one needs a smile more than someone who fails to give one,
After you die...you know how to LIVE!
