I had my eyes surgically removed.

to see was not really
my thing.

everything I ever saw just made me
pissed off.

except children.

I liked seeing young kids
play.

but people have to make
COM-PRO-MI-SES.

and apparently it was impossible for
modern-day medicine
to produce
only-playing-young-children-seeing eyes.

so I settled for
NO-THING.

yeah, in a way growing up really sucks. but in another way, at least when you get past that teenager stage it starts to improve again, especially when you have children of your own and you get to see life through their eyes again. nice one.

I hear what you're saying but IMO I think we just need to change our glasses and look through different lenses. As I've gotten older I appreciate things much more but nothing, absolutely nothing can compare with holding your own child in your arms :D

But I did feel similar things at 17....but I also loved girls too and that kinda kept me busy :o

I agree. hehe, that's why it's kinda important to me that people realise that this really isn't about me and what I think/thought.

the person "speaking" in this poem I see as someone very one-way-forward. very sure of themselves to the point of being just plain arrogant and stubborn. I don't know if that explains it very well as I know exactly how I see/feel them but don't have the words really..

    :)

when I was 17 I came to the realisation that for the past few years I had been awful! :o I mean just horrific!! at that time I realised that it's way cooler to be nice cause you get friends that'll like you and your relationships with them last longer. :D
