Mother Nature's Wrath

She's a mean water raging,
caught in the fury of the winds.
The storm has landed,
and the destruction begins.

Fifty years of being a sailor,
and he's never seen such wrath.
It seems that mother nature,
needed to remind us we are no match.

Tossing boats around,
like puppets on a string.
And even though he'd never been a man of faith,
he found himself praying.

He thought about his life,
the choices that he'd made.
He thought about the good and bad,
how the cards were played.

It all came down to this moment,
a last breath in time.
And he made peace with his inevitable fate,
all his demons came out of hiding.

He slowly closed his eyes,
his shackles were unbound.
As a wave the size of a mountain,
came fiercely crashing down.
