The Truth

I wrote this one for someone very special to me that was going thru a very bad time.

So you say you can't love you.
Well, I think that's just not true.
You think your crimes are too large to live.
Too large for you to forgive.

We all walk a thin line between love and hate.
The choices are not always smart ones that we make.
The mountains are high, and sometimes block the sun.
And sometimes you may think it's easier to run.

Stand your ground.
Don't turn around.
There's alot inside you to be found.

I believe in you,
and you should too.
You are you, and you're unique.
The place you hold in this world is not weak.
Look in those eyes to the depths of your soul.
And realize deep down that you are whole.

You have so much to offer, so much to give.
Past all the sorrow, there is a life to live.
I look at you and all I see,
are all the endless possibilities.

So you say you can't love you.
Well, I know that's just not true.
Be bold and daring and forgive.
Spread your wings and start to live.

  • I hope you don't mind but I'd like to share a poem I posted a while back that you just reminded me of. :)

    In my dreams,
You lay your head in my lap
    And ask for forgiveness
So your soul can be free.

    I kiss your forehead,
    Smile upon your questioning face,
    And I tell you, softly,
    To forgive yourself.

To forgive oneself is probably one of the hardest and most freeing things one can do, IMO. I really loved your poem! :)

  • wow, I like it very very much, and I recall enlightend's to. I like it aswel.

I like poems about fighting the odds/overcoming adversity.
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
    (Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes
    (And function)
    Function is the key

This reminds me of something I wrote years ago about someone thinking about killing themselves.....

If you can't see life as it is
if you can't accept this gift
    then there's nothing left
    (but possibilities)

It's scary to think of all the people I know who in their darkest hour thought of leaving because they didn't see anything left to live for. Now these people are happy in their lives and have found that happiness in things they could never have imagined doing or becoming. Sometimes it's hard to see the possibilities and to remember that things change. Things change so much, it's all state of mind :)

I think we have all been there at some point or another. When you are in alot of pain it's hard to see light at the end of the tunnel and I think it helps when a friend can remind you of that.
