Some October fun. Please feel free to post your October poems here.

The King Pumpkin

A pumpkin sits in a pumpkin patch,
surrounded by other pumpkins so small.
But the other pumpkins are no match,
for this king pumpkin of them all.

He sits in a space not touching the rest,
while the others huddle together admiring him.
For they all know he is the best,
from his outside walls to the outside rim.

But this king pumpkin lacks what the others contain,
he lacks the knowledge to see.
That there is only one thing his beauty will gain,
that's cooked in a pie alot sooner than the rest will be.

The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
    (Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes
    (And function)
    Function is the key

"pukin pie"? Now that sounds gross. I have no interest in trying that.

we don't really have halloween here, so I guess I don't associate october with pumkins. Not to mention we are in totally different seasons, so maybe pumpkins aren't even popular/easily grown this season (I don't know). I don't really associate Octber with anything much except the people I know that have their birthdays this month.

Oh. How rude of me. I never even gave it a thought. No Halloween??? That does suck though. By the way, where is here?

We know of Halloween from American TV, and some people might do a little something just for fun, but it's definately not a big thing. If anyone ever came to my door trick or treating I would be very surprised and would have nothing to give them. It's just another day that doesn't register with most. Here is Australia.

I would love to even just visit Australia just once. I want to see a real kangaroo and a real koala bear. That is my dream place to go to.

Well as far as I'm concerned you are welcome whenever you like. Immigration might have a different opinion :)

    I have a dream
    Of an October wedding.
    A picnic.
    A pig roast -sort of.
    With hay bales
    and pumpkins
    and cornstalks.
I have my music all picked out.
I have an idea of what dress I want.
    I haven't a clue,
    well,
    I DO...
Of who I'd like the groom to be.
But he seems not to know I exist...
    anymore.

    He'll take my hand someday...
    along the beaches of October...
And we'll sail away into the night.

    This is my October.
    A whisper and a thrill
    A whisper and a chill

    "Why do I bother?"
    The 11th Commandment.
    "Whatever"

PETITION TO STOP THE BAN OF SMOKING IN BARS IN THE UNITED STATES....Anyone?
  • if he does not see you, he must be blind. You seem like an awsome (sp..I don't think I have ever actually tried spelling that before) person.

I would say awesome. Now, unrelated to this thread, can you (or anyone clear something up for me)....I just wrote carer in microsoft word and it defaults to US English where it said it was spelt wrong, so I changed it to Australian English and it was fine. Do Americans not say carer? or is it spelt differently? sorry for the side track

Ali, that's a really nice addition. I like it. You always paint a picture with your descriptions. My parents just celebrated their anniversary on Oct. 4. I hope one day soon you will get your October wedding.
  • Carer??? Whats the definition....I think I am looking at it correctly. If so, we say "care giver" in N.A.

ok, care giver, that's fair enough. I think Australians like to use the shortest possible version of any words when they can. Yeah Carer=care giver, someone who looks after someone else. thanks
  • I feel so smart. Quick, somebody pat me on the back...lol

    My back is sore
    My arms are tired
    My lawn looks green again
    Nice piles
    I retrieve the bags
    Curse the bloody wind
    Scattered back across the lawn
    Red, orange, yellow, maroon leaves
    I wouldn't bitch so much
But, they are from my neighbour's trees
You've changed your place in this world!
