Lying Beside You

There's a comfort in your embrace.
A strength that is in place.
When you hold me in your arms, nothing else exists.
God knows I live for times like this.

Lying beside you, I can hear your heart beat.
I lay so close now, with your chest against my cheek.
I close my eyes and feel the warmth of your touch.
I didn't think I'd ever need someone so much.

It's just a unity, a feeling of safe.
I know I could handle anything that life wants me to take.
As long as I have you by my side.
The odds can always be defied.

Lying beside you, I don't need to fear,
you make all of the sadness disappear.
The love that surrounds us lifts me up,
and I know it will always be enough.

    Just wanted to say this is great! I like it alot...can totally feel what you are saying...it seems almost like something that I would write.

    Your second paragraph last two sentences:

    I close my eyes and feel the warmth of your touch.
    I didn't think I'd ever need someone so much.

    kinda similar to mine from the poetry vault in the one called Eternal:

    my flesh yearns for your clever touch
    heaven only knows I'd miss you this much

    Me likes! I wish I could write something as sweet and romantic as this, instead of my usual darker and gloomier stuff. I can really identify with

    a lot because I never, ever thought I would love or need my girlfriend as much as I do. Great work, hope to read more soon.

    its simplicity belies the care and expression in the structure......it reads very well, and its structure is flawless and neat :) I really like it......
    ....they're asking me to prove why I should be allowed to stay with my baby in Australia, because I'm mentally ill......and they think I should leave......
