Acceptance

Walls tumble down between us,
and I see the light in the dark.
The world could not defeat us,
or understanding's rescuing spark.

Past the colors that make us blind,
prejudices taught by closed minds.
A flame undistinguished burns steady and clear,
past all the wasted fear.

Our hearts, our minds, are all the same,
give it whatever kind of name.
The bottom line is what really counts in the end,
there shouldn't be a need to defend.

The wave of the future leans towards a brighter path,
one where acceptance is built to last.
And your enemy is just another man,
who really wants to shake your hand.

it feels less than a poem....than poetry......
....they're asking me to prove why I should be allowed to stay with my baby in Australia, because I'm mentally ill......and they think I should leave......
