Getting Away

I took a drive...far away,
I took a drive...just to get away.
Through the night, past the trees.
Past the fields, too foggy to see.
Down a road, I'd never travelled down before.
Made a left instead, in front of the old store.
Just kept driving,
didn't turn around.
Listening to crickets,
and quiet nighttime sounds.
Needed so bad to clear my head,
and stop seeing red.
Needed some time to get away,
from all the demands of every day.
Time to let the directions be tossed,
time to get nice and lost.

And I won't make the same mistakes
(Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes
(And function)
Function is the key
Keep up the sweet poems!

Rather than being birthed like a normal child, Chuck Norris instead
decided to punch his way out of his mother's womb. Shortly thereafter
he grew a beard.
I understand. That's why I don't live in the city.
Thanks. I drive to soothe my mind as well. It's a nice escape.
Thanks for the compliment. I will.
I like "pointless" drives too.
even though I don't have a license yet..
but me and my friends sometimes take these long drives and end up in places we've never been before. I love it.
those drives are excellent chances to talk. but also not to talk if we don't wanna. we can just sit back and enjoy.
Thanks. I find that I do them alot when I have something on my mind.
