but now...

look at the happy couple holding hands
and smiling and braving the face of reality
the truth ends at the shoulder
and is told in the heart
which is filled with sadness
because they cannot admit to themselves
that comfort becomes uncomfortable
when they are alone
with their own miseries face to face
the illusion becomes diluded by fear
the magic has been spent
and now he just wishes he could disappear
I remain,

  • That's excellent! I like the picture that comes to mind...as we've all known couples like this.
