how soft a bird chirps
a wounded bird
you can barely hear it
you want to locate it
and take it home
and nurse it back to health
you want it to smile again
you want it to live
it means everything to you
because it just does

you never want to see this bird cry
yet forever
you always remember
the way it barely was able to make a sound
when you first met it.

it aches and hurts
to know it was ever in pain
it may not have beautiful wings
and it may not be painted with pretty colors
but it doesnt matter at all to you
its your bird
and you wouldnt have it any other way

it doesnt stay around too long
it flys away, beautifully
into the sun

the sun shines
on the lonely place where you sit
alone
making the place seem so utterly empty
and all you can think of
for the rest of your life
is - i wanted that bird
and it flew away

you cannot cry any tears
because you are unable
you do not want to think
its gone forever

but it is

and it totally breaks your heart

This is so sad because the person sitting there seems to have such little hope that it will come back! :(

I absolutely love this poem! It is beautiful and sad. If the bird is meant to return, it will. Why would the bird forget who loved and helped it? Perhaps it needed to "fly" before it can come home...Good read... :)
Our love must not be just words, but True Love, which shows itself in action,
No one needs a smile more than someone who fails to give one,
After you die...you know how to LIVE!
