Adverbial Sense

Eyes slowly dissolve
Awash on the shore
Sometimes we crawl
“I feel like I’ve had my wings clipped”
She said
In a -ly
Kind of way
Take that fall
To be on earth
Is all
I can think
To say
In no type
Of a -ly
Kind of way

Noses sink into
Forgotten
Somethings
Or things
Which some
Forgotten
Tribes
Draw pictures
Of
When they
Forget
The words
To say
In a
Narrow -ly
Kind of way

Ears operate
With small scalpels
Words
Or waves
Lapping -ly
Against
“You create these problems”
Said she
This time
A little more
-ily

Mouths and fingers
Don’t do much
But fill in the blanks
Of -ly
Gasping
Thoughts
Which turns
“Forgetting was your gift”
Into
Lapsing
Softly years
In a fearful, love, uneducated,
Slow, anger, noble
-ly
Kind of way

The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all your Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it

  • Lovely poem.

I don't want to sound too rude or anything, so please forgive me, but the poem's title needs to be changed to "Adverbial Sense" because -ly words are adverbs.

pie in my face, sorry, this poem was born on the coattails of a 24 hour editing session. Lack of sleep helps me creatively, just not grammatically

  • It's a good poem.

As for me, I make the most outrageous mistakes 99% of the time. It's cool. ;)
