Parties and get-togethers
(Time has taught me everything
I need to know for now)
Straight life through the alley of Your rules
This could have been so much more real
Than all these predictable creatures
Crowding the floor with
wine stains and slander all over
No, they're up-high, they're safe and wreckless
They're all you could ever dream of becoming
With their half-fake tottering
Like empty bottles during an earthquake
They show more than they know of
(Time has taught me all I need to know
...for now)
And You've placed me in the couch
Served me the drink of liberation
You make me laugh like the beating
Of a heart in love, in coexistence with the rest
Blood pumping in network veins (like the flight of a convicted)
How could I possibly spend all the time at my disposal
If it wasn't for You and Your parties?
No, You're up-high, You're one of Them
Pushed God out of his mansion (He wasn't paying the bills)
And now You've got the upper hand
As You're creatures crowd the floor downstairs
This could have been so much more real
And here I am, walking down the alley of Your rules
At least I'm not walking by myself
If that is consolation... I guess it's not
(Time has taugh me everything I need to know...)
