From Myth to Reality: The Mystic Quest of a Sacred Image

In an age of fantasy,
In a realm of unfathomable mysteries,
Pictures on the earth show an interior world.

No trace of the golden land has ever been discovered.
Despite all the magical stories surrounding it,
And putting all warnings out of mind…

Alone on the hill top
Still light headed and dizzy
He dreams of generations of dreamers,
Listens to the voices in his mind and heart;
He is overcome by a presence.

He claimed to have once been taken captive
Half way around the world.
It was just a metaphor for primeval innocence.
Ancient tales of divine intervention.
It was a quest to end all quests,
And of course, pure chance.

It was the pursuit of the sorcerer:
The pagan priest, the mystic, the hermit.
The strange madness came upon him.
He was forgetful of himself and his own,
He was overcome with grief
And roamed the forests half-mad.

“Knocking him lifeless
Eliminate this faith.”

The spirit is oddly real…

Beyond the horizon
There is a thirst for a dream from above,
And without this you are nothing.

On the lake is a boat where two men sit fishing.
It is an allusion to a sanctuary in a medieval history.

Can he feel the unmistakable nearness of mystery?

Century after century.
If it has vanished without a trace
Then follow the footsteps of those before,
Bringing to hand what others have failed to find.

A small casket filled with oaths and rituals.
The unimaginably sacred,
The unimaginably precious;
It seemed to be securely at hand.

The laws of earthly paradise,
A city of surpassing splendor.
All they possessed was spiritual perfection,
And a release from death.

But luxury has its toll,
Those of the lost land lost their virtue.

Inside held the temple of Poseidon.
It’s magnitude and beauty sparkled like fire,
Its wisdom was beyond all mortal measure.

The spiritual center of Atlantis.

Filled with the lawless ambition and power
That brought a dreadful day of reckoning,
A swift and spectacular end.

And still leaving gold glimmering on the ocean floor.

A punishment total.
Earthquakes and floods
Swallowed up by the sea and vanished.

Paradise lost thousands of years after it sank
Into the depths of the Atlantic,
Leaving it now impassible and unsearchable,
Atlantis lives on as a tantalizing puzzle.
There are always a few neutral angels who refuse to fall.

The inscription is on the final page.

Revenge of the Gods.
The noose of death.
Magic potions.
The river of life.

The complicated myth of creation.

For one minute or a lifetime…
The climax of his quest.

It’s time to come down.

And with the clear-eyed visions of the future
He has grown increasingly harder to know

Enthralled, he has succeeded.
