singer/songwriters - whats your favourite technique?

this might be a rather naieve and pointless thread, but I'm just getting in to writing songs for my voice and acoustic guitar, and i'm trying different methods such as:
writing lyrics first with no tune in mind then picking up the guitar and strumming some chords while trying to sing the words
writing something nice on the guitar, then trying to sing something over the top and write words as i do it,
(least often) just doing it as i go, and pretty much freestyling both singing parts and guitar parts off the top of my head and seeing what comes out, then editing it after to turn it into something better.
all methods seem to be working equally for me at the moment, i was just wondering how other people like to write their songs? and does anyone have any other ways that ive not tried? im all up for experimentation
