The Puppy I Got For You

I had to give away my dog today.
I loved my puppy,
but all around it's for the best,
for puppy and for me.
'Cause every time I would be with puppy,
it would bring back a tonne of memories...

Memories of you...

I could never say the memories were painful
because there was never any bad.
There were only mistakes made along the way,
and the mistakes were the only things
that determined what we really had,
and how long it could only last.
I know lots of people who wish they could have had
what I could tell them I had;
what we had.

Just to clarify, which I don't think I did very well in the poem, the memories are of a girl... the girl I got the puppy for and about 3 months late broke up leaving me with nothing but puppy and memories.

No..you made it clear..it was a good poem.
I'm just saying Nanuq leaving would make me cry!!!!
I can see the faults of the relationship through the dogs leaving with the relationship.THE POEM WAS GOOD.Shes probably in tears.
