One or the Other

I have been told
The urge to create
And the urge to destroy
Come from the same place
But I was never quite convinced
Until I saw them on display
In the window
Of my local pawn shop
And still
I found myself torn
Between the Les Paul
And the sawed-off Remington

that is a great vision you placed in my head.
torn between the musical strings of beauty and beautiful strength of the business end of a trigger.

beings the ole man was a prison gaurd and a banjo picker, mom a piano player,i grew up with musical instruments and guns.
dad's life was threated daily for years...we had guns in the house...some dumbasses even tried..true fact

while taking piano lesson @ the age of a 1st grader.
i also hunted with the ole man. (my first gun, a 20 gauge single shot shotgun...i don't hunt now at all)

hell yes i understand this poem.
    well done dude, well done.

Why thank you. You are much too kind. I was actually trying to recreate this one from memory. I don't have a copy here at work. It might be a word or two off from my final draft (like there ever is a final draft of a poem).

Yeah, I don't hunt anymore either.

Trust me, I am as surprised as you. Probably couldn't do it again if I tried. Swiss cheese has nothing on my brain.
