For Her

You who ignored her cries for help.
You who caused it.
You who ignored the signs and their hidden meaning.
You killed her.

Those of us who listened, who tried...
We heard her.
We still hear her.
We hear her echo.
Whether a gift or a burden, we still hear her.
Unlike you who turned your backs, we lost the light and gave way to darkness.
You yourselves have never known the difference.
Just like your ignorance to her pleas, you were ignorant to her heart.
So you have never known true light.

And so, you will never lose it.
You will never see the darkness you have brought.
You will never feel its weight, its emptiness, its loneliness.
Your hearts will continue to beat...
You will go on ignoring her voice.

My heart will beat her message.
A constant reminder, a Heaven given and taken......
But my Heaven nonetheless.

You will forget, endlessly and blindly stumbling in your own self-brought darkness.
Your unrealized prison.

I have seen the light.
I have heard the message.
I've listened.
I've lost.
I shouldn't have to fight a battle I'll never win, just to lose those I've never had.
