I wonder how far I'd get if I started walking now.
The driveway? The street? The alley? Maybe the end of town?
I don't think I'll make it far before your memory finds me,
I know I won't make it far through blurry eyes that won't see.
It was us against the world, I only needed you.
Then it was me against the world, I didn't know what to do.
My back against a wall, no retreat allowed.
I looked for you to save me, I looked within the crowd.
You were gone before the curtains fell,
You left me to live a sorrowful hell.
Just when I needed you the most,
You disappeared, my heartbreak ghost.
I shouldn't have to fight a battle I'll never win, just to lose those I've never had.

this poem recalls for me the emotions i felt as a young person when I would stride for my pride and my heart.
it's very good.. thank you
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green
