Moving On

The fire burns, and heats the cold
I half-laugh at the stories told.
I nod and smile, you'll never know
The emptiness that I won't show.
At one time I held you by,
Now I'm afraid to catch your eye.
We're feet away, but miles apart
I can't speak to you, I can't start.
You've found another, a friend of mine.
You're on his lap, I blame the wine.
I know you've moved on, I should too,
But I can't pry my mind from you.
I shouldn't have to fight a battle I'll never win, just to lose those I've never had.

Wow. That was really very good. Don't worry, there are other fish in the sea.
