Haunting Dreams

Asleep I see the dreams that lie,
The walls that shift from side to side.
Of things to come to those that will,
My heart beats fast and time stands still.
Yet I fight my fight, win or lose,
Against a fate that I can't choose
Just to be carried forth on ahead
Through dreams that leave my spirit dead.
But amid the shadows I'm ripped and torn,
As I lay the dead again, I mourn.
In my dreams my past will be relived
But at some point I must forgive.
Whats done is done no matter what I do,
So I sleep to see my visions through.
In time the pain will slowly subside.
Together my heart and dreams are tied.
What my heart won't say my nightmares yell,
In denial I'm charged to a living hell.
I'll embrace my visions and what they mean
So peace I'll find in my haunting dreams.
I shouldn't have to fight a battle I'll never win, just to lose those I've never had.

I especially like the following line:

"Together my heart and dreams are tied."

    It's well written.
