Wondering Where Some Went

What ever happened to the writer's whos work I used to read a few months back? Trin,Twin's, finsbury, justam, pacifier, IMS, pastanazi, and some others who's names I don't recall (Its been awhile). Depop, Ali, and some others I still see writing, but I'm just wondering what happened to the rest. I haven't been on much in the past few months so I couldn't keep track.
I shouldn't have to fight a battle I'll never win, just to lose those I've never had.

i'm not writing much new stuff right now. working on editing the old so I can pimp it and make some money... lol...

i'm doing a poetry reading with music and stuff at the local high school. i sent them some of my stuff, and i'm holding my breath for the verdict... hope they don't think i'm too brash or too focused on my primary theme (love and heartache)

it's nerve-wracking, i swear... but in the best of ways

    isn, i know, me too.

it's just the not the same.

it internet castigation escalating into that . . . it's the equivalent of bannishing someone from the kingdom. (i mean, here, we are words, and we of all people understand that analogy)

it made me sick. i still love everyone's poetry. i think it's great, but i don't feel inspired here very often anymore, it's no one's fault; it's just . . . i don't know. carry on.

(i really thought your "the theme was . . ." was brilliant though.)

she got into an argument with people who did not *know* her and it escalated into a name calling match that resulted in in either them or some other people who post reporting her to admin, and she was banned -- it happened, i believe in the moving train forum.

she actually started out defending poets, of all people . . .

i saw a couple of posts at the time and then she was gone.

i wrote to the admin here and told them that i thought it was a terrible way to *moderate* humans, especially writers, that i saw it as a form of censorship and that i did not approve.

they pretty much said, so what?

Still here occasionally. I might have been away a bit more than usual because I went and got myself pregnant (well, someone else got me pregnant, but I was involved in the situation) :) anyway, it turns out it's really exhausting to be pregnant, plus I'm trying to study on top of that, so all of a sudden I have no energy and no great urge to write. but i wrote something today. I'll probably be off and on occassionally. I think the main reason I'm on today is because I have an assignment due so I tend to busy myself with anything but the assignment until the very last minute. silly girl, I know, but I've done it all my life and I get by alright.

I can't believe my absence was actually notice. cool. and by kovo, too :) I really enjoy reading your stuff, so that is cool.

    "that is SO not true"

really, i thought she mentioned an irish poet or two when speaking of people who were considered to be insane and unfit to care for children along those lines . . . So?

i thought it involved comments about mental stability and children and isn compared herself to several poets defending them and herself, and that was the thread . . .

anyway, for clarity's sake this is honestly where i thought the shit began to hit the fan:

    guess what?
I don't have to be a victim of prejudice
I don't have to be a loser in some kind of health stakes
when it appears that I have more intelligence
    than two ignorant bigots combined
and that I have more imagination than
a couple of poor fame-desiring ignorant hicks
and a lot more savvy than a bevy of so-called
    sane Molly Malones
who want to preserve the old Ireland of
    comfortable insularity
I have invested in my country's future
in Flann O' Brien, Yeats, Wilde and all those
    odd personalities......
if I am more like them than I am like you......
I'd like you to study Beckett and Joyce
    and question, really question
    who is more sane
    you or I?
(and I am happy to provide you with answer no. 22
yes, Catherine Jones of Killiney Hill, Mount Merrion,
and Foxrock - has a deeper understanding of mental problems
than some quick non-entity like yourself......she has
    a real claim
    to the mad Irish brain).

    by isn

(who is herself a poet, and i think she was defending herself . . . so :) )

well, anyhow, she got banned and she did defend poets/writers and parents who people try to separate from their children, then she herself was separated from this website . . . well, i guess i don't know really know why, and i'll never really understand, so . . . okay.

Flann O' Brien was one pen name of Brian O' Nolan. He was a somewhat maverick civil servant, man of letters and satirical columnist (writing under the name Myles na gCopaleen). He liked a pint too much but he certainly wasn't considered insane or even particularly odd. And he wasn't a poet. He didn't even have any children.

Yeats wasn't insane. Pretentious, whimsical, insecure, oversexed, politically unpredictable, maybe. But you don't get awarded a place on the Irish Senate if your views aren't taken seriously.

Wilde was eccentric, I'll grant you. He was an odd one.

    Anyway, back to the thread.

Of past poets, might I recommend people search for cassia, phishgod, setaside2, Radar Baba O' Reilly, Yellow, and TenaciousA, in no particular order.

I second that! :) Some real awesome talent from those folks! And very much missed are they I'd have to say. :( But, life goes on, people move "onward and upward to excellence" (I hope!!!). :)

ps. I miss ISN too. Sure she pissed people off and I can't say I'd agree with her political views but to each their own. She was never nasty to me and I always enjoyed her poetry posts. :)

In many respects, it's probably natural for some people to move on from posting their work on the Internet, even though it can be great fun and constructive to get involved in a forum. For example, say that a person writes something that provides a lot of "local colour" or popular cultural references, and posts it on an international board. An Internet audience is pretty global and a piece might not communicate with these readers. Of course, this certainly doesn't mean a work is any the worse for not being "universal", so a writer might join a local group where a regional audience is more clearly established.

I love to post on here though, and I feel confident with sharing work even if it doesn't always come across as very good or as accessible. :)

Hi Kovo! I hope you are doing well.
I haven't been on here much recently. Been super busy at home. Mending relationships and trying to work out differences in others. My children will be starting school soon so I've been job hunting as well-going more the direction of what I'd really like to do. I still stop in from time to time and read though. I haven't written a whole lot recently so nothing much to post.
