Another Night

Lookin' out into the morning light,
I keep tryin' to get things right.
To be the one you dream at night
You're the reason I fight this fight
And it wouldn't matter what went down
I could live and sleep on the ground,
I would just need you around,
Your gentle breathing, and its noiseless sound.

You never said you would or not,
You never learned the lessons taught,
You always turned the light to black,
But I'd have held your hand if you held mine back.

The past's gone and not mine to regain.
If all seems mad then am I sane?
I have these words, I try to explain
The only things I've managed to retain;
"Things I won't know, that we've left unsaid,
The tears you've cried and the blood I've bled,
The color of love, black and red,
And the hope that somehow love's not dead."

So I say goodbye to the fading light,
Unable to let go and set things right,
So I'll sleep alone another night,
Because I've given up this fight.

You never said you would or not,
You never learned the lessons taught,
You always turned the light to black,
But I'd have held your hand if you held mine back.
I shouldn't have to fight a battle I'll never win, just to lose those I've never had.

    Profound sadness.

Dude I felt for you while reading this.

    I particularly like this line;
But I'd have held your hand if you held mine back.

good thing that you used it twice hihihihi

If all seems mad then am I sane?

This reminded me of one of my own loves gone sour.

Thanks for sharing and being fundable.

    Good karma for you.

You’re on the outside, never bound by such a spell.
Together in the darkness, alone in the light.
I took it upon me to be yours, Timmy,
I’ll lead your angels and demons at play tonight......»

"But I'd have held your hand if you held mine back" This line is what I'd assume both people were feeling yet they haven't spoken it out loud.

It seems like the two people are having trouble communicating and then they are both jumping to the conclusion that the other one must not love them back. Lack of belief is killing this love from both ends, and yet if they'd just be honest, they could fix the problem.

    This is very sad! :(

I loved this part! It's like the other person's breathing your life's breath, very nice. :) I also loved the holding hands reference. It feels so complicated but all it really boils down to is a simple gesture that's not reciprocated.

A very sad but very wonderful poem, Kovo. :)

    I second that! :)
Our love must not be just words, but True Love, which shows itself in action,
No one needs a smile more than someone who fails to give one,
After you die...you know how to LIVE!
