A Confession

It's been awhile,
Even through so many faces
I never expected
To find you here of all places
You wear the same smile
That hasn't changed
But something is different
You're not quite the same.
I can't be sure but
Your eyes aren't so bright
And I could be wrong but
Your smile seems tight.
It's been a few years
But some things aren't forgot.
I knew what you were,
And I know what you're not.
Your eyes used to shine,
Even though they stole light.
And you never forced smiles
They always seemed right.
It might be the world,
Or you could blame me too
But your broken down spirit
Doesn't suit you.
You warned me once
What couldn't be bent
Could always be broken.
Tongues could be held,
But words not unspoken.
You said the world could kill
Whatever you carried,
And that it was already too late
For what you had buried.
But I've carried a bent tongue just to see it die,
So here's my confession, between you and I.
I'd rather break then bend
And I'll scream outloud
That I'll carry my weight
And be buried proud.
You can reclaim what's lost
If you're willing to fight.
Shine as you once had,
Don't fade into night.
Even through so many faces
I never expected
To find you here of all places
You wear the same smile
That hasn't changed
But something is different
You're not quite the same.
I can't be sure but
Your eyes aren't so bright
And I could be wrong but
Your smile seems tight.
It's been a few years
But some things aren't forgot.
I knew what you were,
And I know what you're not.
Your eyes used to shine,
Even though they stole light.
And you never forced smiles
They always seemed right.
It might be the world,
Or you could blame me too
But your broken down spirit
Doesn't suit you.
You warned me once
What couldn't be bent
Could always be broken.
Tongues could be held,
But words not unspoken.
You said the world could kill
Whatever you carried,
And that it was already too late
For what you had buried.
But I've carried a bent tongue just to see it die,
So here's my confession, between you and I.
I'd rather break then bend
And I'll scream outloud
That I'll carry my weight
And be buried proud.
You can reclaim what's lost
If you're willing to fight.
Shine as you once had,
Don't fade into night.
I shouldn't have to fight a battle I'll never win, just to lose those I've never had.

i really like it alot
i know how this feels exactly
"Hear me, my chiefs!
I am tired; my heart is
sick and sad. From where
the sun stands I will fight
no more forever."
Chief Joseph - Nez Perce
