Four verses: Light & Neil Young

Different kinds of light
Illuminate objects in a room
With different sympathy,
Lend different qualities of spaciousness
To the environment.
They play at amicable conflict
Upon encountering one another
Sometimes to dwindle,
Others to subdue, but never
To eliminate.

Externalise, externalise, externalise
The thinner you get,
The faster you are chilled to the core
Upon e x p o s u r e

Casting light upon the negative,
Casting an uneasy shadow on the world
From the flame burning broodingly within
The reason: projection -
If the problem lies outside then
There's little or nothing to be done
And you can wash your hands,
Get on with other things.

Attuning to the relative gloom
Plucking single notes from the
Air of the room
With eyes half-shut to
See what I have rarely seen
Letting the sounds wring itself out,
Wind off and back to Neil
The music made me feel
Like being human again.
