The day has come where we must not accept our fate
And another good against bad fight will end with a shake
As a new friend i have met whos blood i share
has assured me that this life can be a non stop adventure
let yourself regather remember what makes your heart glare
Even the one who was turned on by Death
Has respect for earth, loves and cares
Is it me or do some people just not know how to live

Why don't these earthates leave
We were all friends before
We said you gotta give and take
What happened to paying equal rent
even though we were different
What happened to wearing some pants
What happened to taking care of your land

And so we will try and try again
In this game we think has no chance
But yet what we already know will come as a surprise
We will loose more then what we have and all you will hear is a one big cry
Because there is no much more to see if we stick around
there will be waves of hope and light for everyne to ride

No more fighting for peace, but instead just to keep
Although there still will always be times to be sad you'll see
Those who are happy will be kissing and laughing
And the angry will be left at the bottom staring
Up at us while we are floating high and needlessly worrying

Is it me or do some people just not know how to live
This line stuck out because it seems to be a question of the ages. I don't know if people asked that question before the telephone. What is "to live" nowadays? What is an example of someone "living", and what is an example of someone who does "not live." What would these two people do in the grocery store if they were both there on a Friday night?

Bibliobella, I agree, that is a fantastic question --

a poetic question, I think, in that as Fins pointed out somewhere, poetry for some reason can do what prose can't (sorry if I'm butchering what fins said)

And here I go prosing away the great question with some answers, so . . .

Sonia Sanchez has this poem that offers an answer -- the title of the poem is Just Don't Ever Give Up on Love

A similar answer to the question is in a couple of prose peices too, now that I think about it -- The Great Gatsby, The Razor's Edge, Paris Trance -- it's pretty much the same answer in all of them, a very humble one, in that it's the subject of the stories and poems who is living, not the person who is telling about the subject

    I like that question!
