Binural
Riot Act
Avocado

I'd say Binural has grown on me the most, with riot act close behind, and avocado seems to have gone the opposite way

    Out of those three choices.

Riot Act has grown on me the least by far. I never listen to it.

Binaural grew by leaps and bounds. I was disappointed on first few listens but have grown to love it now.

Avocado was near the top for me and still is.

Same with me for Binaural. I was majorly disappointed for a couple of years (with the notable exception of Insignificance, Light Years, and Parting Ways) One day gave it another spin, and grew to love it.

    Riot Act I still hate.

Self titled hasn't proven to be an album with much staying power. Probably just listened to it too many times, and right now need a break. That never happened with No Code and Vs. though

I agree. :) But, with so many boots, I rarely listen to the studio versions. I love most of the songs better live. When I do though, I really enjoy them and there is always a little surprise or something I've forgotten. :)

I have loved Avocado and Binaural since I first heard them, but Riot Act has definitely grown on me, it gets better every time I listen to it.

Good albums remind me of times in my life. While I didn't LOVE binaural....I really appreciate it now. Riot Act and Avocado....don't really remind me of anything....and while each albums has some songs I enjoy....I haven't listened to either of them in ages. You know what's good, though? The new R.E.M. record....and this is coming from someone who does NOT consider themself to be an R.E.M fan. Check it out, kids.

  • Its always the same process for me.

    Get the album

basically love it to death, constant play for a year.

    Than shelf it

than adore the next album the same way.
Some people have religion I have Pearl Jam.

    no more shows

Binaural: It took a while to grow on me, but it eventually did.

Riot Act: I still don't like it. I never listen to the album as a whole.

Avocado: I liked it from the get-go.

def. Binaural has grown on me the most.

After the first listen I liked Avoado the best, but it has grown on me the least.

I think Riot Act is fantastic lyrically, but I'm not a fan of it musically (with the exception of a few songs).

All of them are good to me. Most recently, however, several Riot Act songs came up in a row on the IPod ... man, I forgot what a great album that was ... especially like the first 10 songs or so.

As time's gone on I still like it but just less than the other albums.

    ~Riot Act~

I wasn't overly struck when I first listened to it, "a couple of stand out songs but that's it" was my opinion at the time... I'm addicted to it now :o
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

Out of those three, I like avacado from the beginning.

    Binaural has grown the most.

As far as Riot Act. It may be my favorite studio album over the past couple of years.

I listen to live shows most of the time so I can get a mix of songs, but if I were to pick a studio album to listen to, it would be riot act.

Wow a lot of hate for Riot Act. I listened to it yesterday for the first time in a long time, and gotta say I love it. For those who haven't heard it in a while can I suggest dusting it off and giving it another listen?

I'm not sure there is a bad PJ album. I've always listened to all of them through constantly after they come out. There are just a few songs I skip. (Fuck, "Bugs", etc.)

  • im getting a bit tired of avacado but its still the best of the three. riot act is solid for the most part but i think binaural has grown on me the most. especially when you relate the album to the way it was recorded. sad definitely didnt fit into the album.

Binaural. I wasn't seeing near as many show as in 2000 as in 03 or 06. Hearing Riot Act and Pearl Jam tracks live really helped me get to love those two albums more quickly.

I tend to go through a seasonal progression through all of PJ's catalog. For me at least, Binaural is what I listen to the most in the late fall once the weather starts getting colder. I don't know why but that has always been my favorite time of the year to listen to it, maybe because I associate it with the Ice Bowl show.

Self titled is what I tend to listen to in the summer. Once again, this might be because that is when I began listening to it or because of last year's Lolla show.

Yield I like the best in early spring. Vitalogy I listen to during the summer. Ten and Vs. I don't listen to as much anymore, but when I do it tends to be in the late summer to early fall. Riot Act is an album that I generally listen to in the winter.

The album that has grown on me the most is Vitalogy. It was the hardest album for me to get really into as a whole for some reason. I used to not enjoy the harder tracks like Last Exit and STBC as much as I do now for some reason.

Anyway, that is probably far more than anyone else cares to read about my opinions on this so I will cut it off.

Lately avocado has really grown on me. Maybe because I didn't listen to it much when I first bought it but now I like every song I hear off of it!

Binaural has gone from 6.5/10 to a solid 7/10 in my book. :p

the other two are still around the 4.5-5.5/10 range. I can't really get into Avocado.

Love Pearl Jam (could be the best)
Riot Act is great and gets better all the time
Binaural probably the weakest of all the albums
