I used to love reading the big issue when I lived in London.....it's actually a very good little mag.....and had some great input: reviews; columns....I think Jeffrey Bernard even had a column in there before he died (but Jeffrey Bernard is dead).....
when I lived in Camberwell, I had a two-bedroom council flat, and I brought home a young man who was begging in the Elephant and Castle to let him have free room and board at my place.....but he thought I was an undercover cop, adn he was very suspicious of me.....
when I lived in Stockwell - I was still at University, I brought home a beggar from a station in the City.....I said I'd find him a room and pay his deposit.....he was so cute - he slept on my floor for a couple of days and we went to look at some rooms, but he really was into drugs and living in squats.....so we made our farewells......there aren't nearly so many homeless people here in Sydney
people sleep in the subway next to buckinham palace
how fucked up is that
