so this is unusual for me in that I'm never usually sentimental and tend not to write about subjects that are so obviously close to me but I couldn't help it here. sorry if its cheesy :)

In a smile

In being,
for an evening,
in her company, her arms,
no explicit words exchanged, but understanding,
I learnt what life is
and love
and everything that mattered
settled in a warm cocoon of wine and smiles.
In her smile I was sold. Lost, I was, in
her astral eyes. I never felt so...so safe,
contented, free. If I never feel it again
it will be enough to have felt,
to have known,
to have kissed that cheek that bore such
smiles as pulled my mind in tatters.
If not for her, a smile would never have
meant so much.
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
