Entrapment

Swimming through the sea, discontented
heart filled, wretched thoughts destroy
as the waves grow stronger battle commences
pitting his wits and fool hardy attitude
in a fight he could only ever lose, why choose?
why take on such a futile plight
knowing full well only failure would ensue
only a fool would dare to try
or someone who wanted to kiss the world goodbye
embracing its very essence as he died
his arms and legs grew week, waivering
but his will and intent remained
as he fought against the odds, overcoming expectation
and great intrepidation, he who dares wins
he muttered unto himself, but there was no winning
as fate took away his last breath, and to a watery grave
he sank from the earth deafeted as he knew
deep inside he always would be.
