Life in the Here and Now

This hate machine waged it's war of destruction
violence indulged, social corruption
what differences were noted, attacked and tore apart
assimilation of our cultures, individualisim stolen from our hearts
this war was lost before it even started
another dent in our evolution
more proof that peace will never exist
and my smile is vacant
and my dreams are scarred
this future I see it's bleak and dark
A world without humanity
life with no heart
and I shudder to think about my childrens sanity
on this planet we are leaving them
raped, pilaged and vandalised
nothing much will be left
but they'll all have nice sun tans
if they're still capable of breath

were obssesed with our vanity, pre occupied in our selfs
to see the harsh reality, of our world falling apart
ice caps are melting fast, the sun is beating down hard
polluting the air we breath, killing species by the week
nothing much is left

Being Enlightened

I can see how one can feel this way and in my darkest moments, I feel like this too. But, we wouldn't still be here if we didn't have some sense of hope for a better and brighter future in our hearts. If we each shine our little lights, if we keep trying to make things better, well, you never know what good may come of it. I wish for your smile not to be vacant, but, full of hope even through the haze of pollution! There are still people out there who care!

Thanks, I wrote it after spending a while on the Living With War website, you could say it inspired me a lot.:)
I think it's a shame they're so many out there who choose to just ignore the facts about whats happening to the world.
Personally I recycle in every way I can, unleaded fuel in my gf's car I dont drive personally, I walk everywhere within the town I live, the only time there is purpose for me getting in the car is going out of town, I use energy efficient appliences and light bulbs in the house.
I try to do my bit, if only everybody would.:(
