Mortality

Things could be so much different right now
we could be planning a funeral
grieving a loss
mourning the dead
instead I find myself
negotiating with the company
who almost caused my sons death
I feel like exploding, my anger, confusion and shock
almost impossible to keep a lid on
it's a nightmare come to life
one of those things, totally unexpected
unacceptable to comprehend
mortality brought to my attention
in the most shocking of ways.
