Close your eyes.
Imagine the ocean...early in the morning...the waves caressing the shore. You wake up - it's the first thing your mind senses - that and the salty smell. Slowly, gently, continuous...over and over. You can barely hear them build at all. Just the soft crash into the beach...then the sounds of the foam....the high-pitched "shhhhh" as the water seeps into the sand. Can you see it?
Imagine a stream...anytime...the constant flow. You hear the air pockets form and pop seemingly everywhere at once. Some sounds are low...some are high. You see the plants drooping over the stream...the current pushing the air into the leaves - making them flip and turn every which way. Can you see it?
I remember a little red flower with scraggly green leaves sticking out between two rocks at a beach last year. I walked by it - wondered how many others saw it. I wondered how long it had been there - if it is there every year. How many people really see it? How many even look? Can you see it?
