Thanks, Mr. Carrots! Should we continue to discuss this book, or start thinking about another book?

Keep this one! A book discussion can run for over a month. There's enough discussion material in one question to ponder for days.

I think VW's strength is her character development by their interactions with others. How do we get to know Clarissa?

This is a great idea. I usually only type from work so I don't have time to think things through as much as I would like. I'll try to get to a computer this weekend, and address more of the questions originally posted by the publisher.

On another note, what would you like the next book to be for December. My suggestions are:

    James Joyce's Ulysses (sp?)
    Nadine Gordimer's Burgher's Daughter

    What do you think?

The latter is more accessible, I think.

This is how Blissweave did "Jane Eyre". There were only a couple of contributors, but it worked out fine:

Yes, but I've always wanted to read, "Ulysses." FPC, Would you be willing to get the party started on the book in December?

Holy schmoly. Okay, I'll do my best, but I'll ask everyone to read a translation of Homer's Odyssey first, and to have some acquaintance with Joyce's A Portrait of The Artist as a Young Man, so they can follow the mythical structure and thematic/narrative/stylistic precedents of Joyce's novel. Reading those two texts isn't totally necessary, but it'd be very handy.

If I watch "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" instead of reading the "Odyssey" would that work?
