Opening Move
Spot In The Sky

Last night I wrote a thousand lines of poetry in my head
Since I’ve woken up I found they were all left in your bed
A night time of closed eye contact and wishful thoughts
While my lips and tongue driven by impulsive wants
That falls short of action by heart beat and cowardice
Of a move too quick that would shatter what there is
My door is open for you to come in
Whether I’m wide awake or crying
Or out cold sleeping
Last night I dreamt up a place where beauty is all there is
And I woke up this morning to the same image
I’ve got my share of problems I’d love to share
You’ve got your share of burdens I’d love to bear
We’re at a stale mate and I don’t know what to do
Like a game of chess before the opening move
My door is open for you to come in
I’m just sitting here and hoping
Alone and waiting
Since I’ve woken up I found they were all left in your bed
A night time of closed eye contact and wishful thoughts
While my lips and tongue driven by impulsive wants
That falls short of action by heart beat and cowardice
Of a move too quick that would shatter what there is

Alone and waiting
