who here finds it hard to write when they are satisfied with life? Who is happy to be satisfied but not write?

  • I don't find it hard either way. It's just as easy to write down an emotion even when satisfied with life... for example, happiness.
"Don't come closer or I'll have to go
Holding me like gravity are places that pull
If ever there was someone to keep me at home
    It would be you..."
  • I want to be able to write poetry - I used to - but just write fiction these days because decent poetry is really, really hard to write.
'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

    - the great Sir Leo Harrison

I write when I'm happy and sad but I don't display the sad stuff very often. It all seems so maudlin and self-important. :p:)

  • My poems rarely have anything to do with how I'm feeling about life at the time. Typically, people's worst poems are about emotions they're feeling as they write, and their best poems are written when reflecting on previous experiences and the feelings they had during those times. At least that's how it is for me.
  • Almost anything I post is a spur of the moment thing.
I get a thought and go with it. Typically it is going to be based on a mood, an experience I just had, or something I just saw.

I believe that I write mostly about negativity/dissatisfaction, but if you look past that it is typically about the silver lining.

I find it easier to write in an altered state...which I consider to be an "unhappy" frame of mind…basically because it is a form of venting.
The only thing I enjoy is having no feelings....being numb rocks!

And I won't make the same mistakes
    (Because I know)
Because I know how much time that wastes
    (And function)
    Function is the key
