Words

we all love words here, so this thread is dedicated to poems about words....or lack there of (writer's block, anybody?)

just give a quick introduction as to what your poem is refering to, then fire away. And everyone should feel free to join in and comment on what they are reading.

ok here goes... This is about when someone says something, but somewhere in the process of recieving the information their original message gets lost...is so easy to misunderstand each other....

Meaning slips out from beneath your words
inserts itself into the open mirror of knowledge
encounters no delays
but is accepted with caution
scanned from all angles
it multiplies
yet no two are the same
only one remains the truth
hidden deep
lying lost beneath it's offspring

this is just about talking I guess, but nearly feels like lying...

every word adds to the last
trampled like the grass under your feet
    add another
    take a step
won't stop until the journey is complete
    (and it never is)

ok, no one's joining in so I will post a few more...

these are about losing the words that normally come to you (write's block, if you will)....

words, where have they gone to?
    spent away like the money
    thoughts you can't hold onto
    fade away into nothing

    ....................................

Wake the sleeping, raise the dead
let the words mess with your head
    Still there? I don't know.
    Fading. where did you go
    and while you were there
did you like what you saw?
    Must have een nothing
    'cause we never talk
    ......................................

    Silence of the brain
    sending me insane
    guess I can't complain
    given so much
    wasn't mine
    Now I'm nothing without me
    tap into the memories
    or leave it all behind.
    ................................

and when I thought all words had left
I heard them said with wispered breath.......

Do you hear me? Do you care?
    (what are words for?)

I get a kick out of the phrase "they're just words".

    JUST words?

Of course sticks and those fucking stones hurt, but words can be just as breaking, just as powerful.

Look at the connections made, nurtured, continued - based simply on words.

Sure, they're on a screen, or a page, handwritten, typed...but they impact, inspire, piss off...make cry, make complete, make think, make orgasm, make wonder...on on on.

I adore words. Writing them, reading them, sharing them.

There's even a bit of twisted beauty in the ugliest of them.

    We are words.
