dirty dishes

Dishes left dirty on the bench
for so long
for too long

as the carpet gathers hair
and bread crumbs
and more dust

laundry stacked up high
smells too strong
to put on

tv turned up loud
blocks thoughts
of all sorts

While I’m just sitting here
for so long
for too long

and breathing in the air
of bread crumbs
and fine dust

feeling so damn tired
it’s too strong
to move on

time to close my eyes
blocking all thoughts
of all sorts.

Now the dishes in the sink
are all gone
(not for long)
