Sitting 'round the table
At an extended-family lunch
Never looked straight at him
Fifteen years have past
Still the memories, now faded,
Leave me with a scar

He must be well into his 30's
Yet he talks with pride
Of his 18 year old girlfriend
Young, just like he likes

"As long as they are legal"
He says with a grin
And the men laugh with admiration
Wishing they were him

I wanted to jump up
To shout and kick and scream
Tell everyone "18???
8 is more his thing!"

And the men, they laughed with admiration
As I sat staring at my feet

Pain fades. More disturbing is that you can't tell a predator apart from any normal person. So much so that good people can actually look up to these monsters without knowing their true history. I doubt if any decent person knew this man's secrets that they would be laughing at his young girl comments.
