Refuge

Picked up my guitar for the first time in weeks and wrote this.

False light hurts me
Burns right through me
Is there
Anywhere now
Any place for us to stay

Search for shelter
From the harsh winds
As the
Storm approaches
Can you help me find my way

You're my light now
You're my light
That keeps me safe and sound
And guides me home at night
You're my shelter
From the cold winds
Of this world's
A harsher place
But you keep me
Hanging on.

You're my comfort
In this dark night
As the
Sleep advances
Will you help me find my dreams

You're my summer
In this cold place
When the
Dawn sun rises
Could you suffer all my screams

You're my light now
You're my light
That keeps me safe and sound
And guides me home at night
You're my shelter
From the cold winds
Of this world's
A harsher place
But you keep me
Hanging on.

Keeps me hanging
You keep me hanging
Keep me hanging on
Up here in my tree

you don't have to live like a refugee
don't have to live like a refugee
The most remarkable thing about you standing in the doorway, is that its you, and that you're standing in the doorway.

I write down good reasons to freeze to death in my spiral ring notebook. But in the long tresses of your hair--I am a babbling brook.
