Today’s wind refuses to allow
the front gate to shut.
I sit and reflect upon how
Outside, the aged raindrops fall
Helplessly, in a rapid almost
Suicidal stream, downward toward
The earth quiet and coldly metallic
How comfortable the weather is on
This side of the window where I can view
The green apples, in the yard across
The street, ripen to a tempting red.
I am content on my old tattered and
Worn flower printed couch but often
I wonder when I will discover a liking
For the apples growing beyond the
Domain of my steal meshed fence.
the front gate to shut.

Outside, the aged raindrops fall
Helplessly, in a rapid almost
Suicidal stream, downward toward
The earth quiet and coldly metallic
How comfortable the weather is on
This side of the window where I can view

I wonder when I will discover a liking
For the apples growing beyond the
