An Awakening

This daily stretch consumes
every molecule of sunlight
envelopes all shades
of the rainbow prism
And softens, and never burns
the surface of you

And however you stretch
For however long or in whatever shape
Your petals extend feeding upon
The dawn's warmth in every tendril of your being

Beckoning you to succomb
To the moment of your blossoming
When you take in the morning dew
To take your first drink of heaven

And the stem that
firmly grounds you to your roots
Upholds your place in this universe
Though the crisp morning air
Chills your life

But still you, the flower, opens
To be the beauty that you are
And the wonder

  • Beautiful. If I were submitting this for publication, though, I might suggest the following (light) revision:

    This daily stretch consumes
    every molecule of sunlight
    envelopes all shades
    of the rainbow prism
    and softens, never burns
    the surface of you

    And however you stretch
for however long or in whatever shape
    your petals extend feeding upon
the dawn's warmth in every tendril of your being

    beckoning you to succomb
to the moment of your blossoming
when you take in the morning dew
to take your first drink of heaven

    And the stem that
firmly grounds you to your roots
upholds your place in this universe
    though the crisp morning air
    chills your life

But still you, the flower, opens
to be the beauty that you are
    and the wonder

As usual, work of quality, robertthecat. :)
  • Oh, and two tiny things: "succumb" for "succomb" and "open" for "opens" in the final stanza. Then do something with this! It's very good. :)
  • Thanks Finns!!! It's great to hear from you. I hope all is well in the world.
  • Couldn't be better. Thanks. :)
