State of Mind

This death has transformed me,
Into the beautiful person I’ve become,
But am I really beautiful,
If all I feel is numb?

A living hell offered me heaven,
Blindly I thought,
The walls would not allow me to see,
All that others could,
All that had consumed me.

Regret turned to realization,
Education became the opportunity,
I morphed into a state of mind,
Accepting what I came to be.

I thought you took away,
The soul I worked to achieve,
You took a piece of me,
But not what I was led to believe.

Thanks for taking that piece,
I didn’t need it any way,
I’m fine just the way that I am,
From my home I shall not stray.

    Actually, I took from that and applied it to my life so..

    That was my goal in posting that poem as well...
