Empty Hourglass

I held your hand,
I took a stand,
I sat and watched,
The last grains of sand,
Take you with them,
As time stood still,
Numb to everything,
I do not feel.

Your last breath exhaled,
I feel I failed,
I did all I could,
I lie here impaled.
Lost in sight,
But not in heart,
My blood runs dry,
I’m torn apart.

They say a new start,
Is happening now,
But I can’t accept,
It was your last bow.
Take me with you,
Please don’t go alone,
I won’t leave your side again,
I’ll take your pain as my own.

Your memory won’t fade,
I assuredly know,
Wait for me please,
I long for you so.

    I felt that was touching, nicely written.
    To worry about tomorrow doesn't make it easier,

    Thank you. I appreciate that. Last time I posted some of my material, I didn't really get any responses, so I didn't figure anyone really cared for it. The feedback is nice.
