Warmth of a Snowflake

The sun eludes me this day,
Instead I see a giant snowflake in the sky,
Waiting for it to rain down on me in a winter storm,
Yet it’s summer here, and that’s not the norm.
I reach up to touch the drizzle,
But the heat is high, and I feel the sizzle,
Of the warmth on my skin,
But it’s so misleading,
It’s so cold inside, I can see my breathing..
I lie here still, soaking up the rays,
Shivering inside, dreading the days,
Clouds in my mind, blocking the sun,
Drowning in water, with nowhere to run.
Blizzard beating consistently, as the sweat drips down,
Blistering heat, tearing down my hometown..
Building a snowman, in my childish heart,
Knowing the sun will melt it, it all falls apart..
I extend my hands, and turn them upwards,
Hoping the rain drops make a home in my palms,
But they can’t stay in sight long, no one can see,
They are alone……alone like me.

    Incredible.
    there'll be time for laughin'
    there's no time to cry
    soon i will be leavin'
    look me in the eye
no matter what's in front of me
it's your face that i'll see
  • indeed. such a human thing that our internal climate may remain so separate from the external. I guess you might say we are emotionally warm blooded.
If there was a chair in which I could comprehend, I would stand always and embrace the path
  • Thanks for the kind replies. Yeah, it's weird how on the outside we can be baking in the heat, but inside, it's freezing.
