Misty Eyed Statue

I can't remember if I ever posted this one. It's more along the lines of lyrics, rather than poetry.
Misty Eyed Statue
I’ve lived a thousand lives,
and I’m full of lost souls,
Reaching out to be saved by someone,
Reaching out for no one,
I’ve come undone in this life,
Looking up at the misty eyed statue,
Telling me I’m destined to be left behind.
Misty Eyed Statue
Misty Eyed Statue
This old building of ruins,
Suits me just fine,
I’ve lived here forever,
no visitors stop by,
Seeing the crumbling exterior,
No one stops in to take a look,
Missing out on the stained glass windows,
And all that within.
Misty Eyed Statue
Misty Eyed Statue
Looking down at me with misty eyes,
And pity not of this world,
The chance has passed and I miss the skies,
Tears flow down,
And the answer can’t be circled.
Misty Eyed Statue
Misty Eyed Statue
On a mission that’s been aborted,
I disappear from pictures past,
And realize I was never here at all,
I was never me at last.
Windows close and doors lock,
And chances pass along,
No ability to make progress,
Hands without a clock.

I'm thinking of doing it mysef for myself with your permission.
You really remind me of Eddie. Especially your metaphors. Is he your greatest teacher?
Lyrics, and poetry, just pop into my head at times. They don't have any particular tune to them, really.
Thank you for the ENORMOUS compliment of me reminding you of Eddie. That is the ultimate compliment to me. Eddie is the ultimate influence on me, but Layne Staley would also be up there. I'm really big on metaphors. I love them. I have never been one to right direct thoughts.
As for you putting music with it, that wouldn't offend me, so long as you didn't "steal" the lyrics and make a profit. Obviously this isn't copyrighted, but if you did it just for you....I would be flattered and I'd like to hear what you come up with

Also, I believe the artist owns the copyright at the time the material was created.[b/] You should mail unopened copies of your work to yourself and save them for the postmark date. Cheap and easy copyright insurance. It cost about $10 last time I got a form. You could probably find them on the internet.
Indelible Love
Marked for life by exact device
An artist so loving
Their passion controls the brush
Canvas is ripped
Devoured by a moment of truth
He cries out but not in pain
Indelible love can't be driven from out minds
A constant reminder
So perfectly placed
Undeniable bold remarks
I've got mine I see you've got yours
Oh won't you help
I've never done this before
A precious gift so patiently wrapped
It will be treasured forever and a day
So willing to give
So hard to recieve
Priceless are you sure it's for me
Just accept it
Don't question the fact
Next time you'll see it engraved with your name
I took it as as serious compliment. Again, I see that as the ultimate compliment you could have possibly given me. It made my day, in all seriousness.
Thanks for the information on the copyright. I'll remember that.
Your poem is very cool...I love this particular part especially:
"Canvas is ripped
Devoured by a moment of truth"
The carnivorous idea of it being devoured really punctuates the point...the ferocity. Just awesome.

I like your words better than mine. Can't wait to see more of your work.
I have other songs but sometimes the lyrics sound lame without the music.
p.s. I read what you said and it could have gone either way without the voice.
Well, my lyrics might not mean much considering there isn't any music to go with them. I need a Stone Gossard to riff it out

But then You make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what You got
When all You've got is hurt
----
Underneath this smile lies everything
All my hopes and anger, pride and shame

I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
the dreams in which I'm dying
are the best I've ever had...etc.....
after reading your song, that just popped into my head, tried to get the whole lyrics but couldn't find them....hehehehehe.....hopeless....heheheheh
Sounds like an interesting song

As would I. I'm always open to education
