Like a cancer spreading through my veins,
Consuming my world within,
I continue inhaling this drug,
The light is growing dim,
Poisoning my lungs,
I lie here gasping for breath,
You want to break me down,
Won’t stop until my death.
Have to stop feeding you,
Allowing you to grow,
My memories are fading,
You’re becoming all I know.
Chorus:
Silent cries,
Fall on deaf eyes,
The sun goes down,
Never again to rise,
I look in the mirror,
My reflection I despise,
I prefer my shadow,
My own worst spy.
I sit here in the night,
But I feel a sun burn,
My skin is peeling,
For the light I yearn,
The stomach pain means nothing to me,
The sacrifice I’ve earned,
For trying to be free,
An anguished lesson learned.
The pain is my cross,
I take it up and bare,
The heavy weight and all with it,
My penance is fair.
(Chorus)
Not worthy of these blessings,
I haven’t done enough,
You’ve handed me a royal flush,
But I screwed it up and bluffed,
I once was a child,
Worth all the effort,
Now just a cactus,
In this unbearable desert,
Holding water,
For those that look deeper,
These mountains I climb,
Are getting much steeper,
If I reach the top,
I hope I’m accepted,
And not a disappointment,
Of what you expected.
(Chorus)

"My reflection I despise,
I prefer my shadow,
My own worst spy," sums up a lot of things for me.
how can you even argue?
Argue what?
