Standing there in mid routine
something I never wanted
it's just there
and each day it gets more tiring
to be a part of the machine
Stupified by todays youth
I wanted nothing more than to
just forget them
and spend each of my days wandering
farther and farther from you
Retaliating back in my head
I know I could do it all in person
if only I could
so I'll spend each more tiring day
pretending like I did what i just said
something I never wanted
it's just there
and each day it gets more tiring
to be a part of the machine
Stupified by todays youth
I wanted nothing more than to
just forget them
and spend each of my days wandering
farther and farther from you
Retaliating back in my head
I know I could do it all in person
if only I could
so I'll spend each more tiring day
pretending like I did what i just said
I tried to be a better me
In the end I looked like the rest of them.
In the end I looked like the rest of them.

But couldn't you do it?
Wouldn't it be possible to step out?
Change the routine?&&&&&&&&&&&&&&0 -
Here's something I wrote years ago which I think is along the same lines. Tell me if I'm wrong.
Start it up
gettin out of here
don't matter where I'm going
no sense of direction
just putting it all behind me
Don't look back
can't relax
until it's out of my sight
won't waste my breath
save my strength
to fight the good fight
All inside my mind
disillusion and lies
remember how it was before?
I can't recall
running so fast just to keep it behind me
hear what he said, there's a light up ahead
It shines from deep inside me
It never stops
sweep the dirt and it returns, repeat
It never ends
fight and lose, fight and win until we sleep
looking back it's too far to see
the future lays ahead of me0 -
It is along the same lines and I like both of them. I can relate.0

I know just how you're feeling.I shouldn't have to fight a battle I'll never win, just to lose those I've never had.0
